Matt Martin spent years telling stories for CBS, ESPN, and TNT before the mountains of
Colorado won the argument, and now he brings a filmmaker’s eye and a marketer’s instinct
to helping people find their own version of the life he built in Pagosa Springs.
Matt Martin was born in America. We put it that way because his dad was a Top Gun Navy
pilot, which meant constant moves and more zip codes than most people have socks.
Military life has a way of teaching kids adaptability early, and Matt was no exception. His
family eventually landed in Dallas, where Dad traded jets for jokes at Southwest Airlines
and the family finally got to unpack for good.
In high school, Matt discovered a passion for film and media, the kind of pull that makes a
career choice feel less like a decision and more like an inevitability. So he did the obvious
thing and majored in Digital Media at a small college in Arkansas. Hollywood dreams, Ozark
setting. He graduated with a degree, a camera, and a head full of ideas about what came
next.
But what came next was his most financially irresponsible idea yet: becoming a snowboard
bum in Vail, Colorado. Twelve roommates, spaghetti dinners, and small paychecks. The
mountains had a grip on him that made common sense irrelevant. Eventually, the bank
account won the argument and he made his way back to Dallas to build something real.
Matt carved out a serious career in video production, working “The Masters” for CBS and
crafting documentaries on Guns N’ Roses and Whitney Houston. He helped produce The
Wandering Golfer, a show about a guy who tosses his career aside to travel the world and
play golf. It hit home harder than he expected.
After years behind the camera, Matt took his storytelling skills in a different direction,
running media for one of Texas’ top school districts. Meaningful work, but the mountains
kept calling. Eventually, he stopped ignoring them.
Now settled in Pagosa Springs, his favorite vacation spot turned permanent hometown,
Matt has channeled everything he’s learned into real estate. The filmmaker’s eye for a great
story, the marketer’s instinct for what resonates, and a genuine love for this community
make him a different kind of agent. He doesn't just sell properties. He helps people find their
own version of the life he built.
Just don’t ask him to cook spaghetti. He’s done with that chapter.
