I was born and raised in a small town in Indiana surrounded by corn, soybeans, basketball and Indy car racing. It was a great childhood, but as I grew older I became drawn to the west. I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Interior/Environmental Design at Ball State University. I headed for Arizona one week after graduating and got a job in facility design at a worldwide aerospace company. I designed large office areas, executive office suites, and anything that was required to improve functionality for the various departments to do their jobs efficiently and eventually advanced to facility project management. I met my husband a few years after moving to Phoenix. He was born in Colorado so we often vacationed all over this beautiful state and yet we always gravitated to our favorite part of the Rockies, the San Juan Mountains. We talked about moving to Pagosa often and after fourteen years of the corporate world we decided to make it a reality. The move changed everything about our lives 360 degrees but we took that leap of faith and made Pagosa our home. That was 28 years ago and we have never looked back. We literally live in a cabin in the woods now which we renovated together and continue to improve. We are so blessed to be able to observe all that nature has to offer right out our back door. I never tire of the majestic mountains and the abundant wildlife. Nature is truly healing. In our free time we enjoy hiking with our Airedale Emma, camping, four wheeling and photography is a passion of mine.. Pagosa Springs is an amazing place to live.
Throughout my life I have been a hard worker and I bring that mid-western work ethic I was raised with to Jim Smith Realty. Here in Pagosa I worked for several years at Wyndham in the Property Management division of the resort. I did the purchasing for the timeshares, managed the inventory and scheduled vendors for installations. I have always worked in some aspect of improving buildings to match the needs of the people who work in them, vacation in them or live in them so it was a natural transition for me to move into the Real Estate business. I was honored to be voted Rookie of the Year for my first year as a Realtor by my fellow Associates and in the following years I continue to strive for that same level of excellence. I make it a point to attend every class possible to continue to expand my knowledge of this ever changing business. I enjoy working with people that share my enthusiasm for the Pagosa area and pride myself in giving exemplary service, honesty and integrity to both Buyers and Sellers. Finding the right fit for my clients is my goal, I care about the people that entrust me to guide them through this process and put their needs first! Sharing our natural beauty and welcoming community gives me great pleasure. This friendly little town is as special as the nature that surrounds us. The people here continually pull together adding to its warmth. Over my 28 years here I have volunteered with the fire department, the Arts Council, the humane society and currently the Pagosa Outreach organization. I am also a Director on my neighborhood Board. I love Pagosa!! This is my home of choice and it is my pleasure to help you find your home of choice!
